Dowra Community Pre-school
Located within walking distance of Dowra Village the pre-school is located within Dowra Resource Centre. We are open five days a week for children aged between 2 years and 6 months to 5 years.
Curriculum
Within the pre-school we promote education through play. We focus on cognitive, speech & language, physical, fine & large motor skills and social & emotional development.

Our Daily Routine
Children arrive: 9:45 a.m. - 10 a.m. Settling in time.
Free play: 10 a.m. to 11:10 a.m.
The children choose the activities they wish to participate in. The Leaders role is to join in the activities chosen by the children and support their development by promoting education through their chosen activities. i.e. puzzle making, play-dough, painting, cutting & gluing, stories, small world play, work in the block, sand, water or home corner etc.,
Tidy up time: 11:10 a.m. to 11:25 a.m. The children are actively involved in the tidy up routine.
Outdoor Play: 11:25 a.m. to 11:50 a.m.
Lunch time: 11:50 a.m. to 12:10 p.m.
Tidy up time: 12:10 to 12:15 p.m. The children tidy up after lunch.
Story and rhyme time: 12:15 p.m. to 12:35 p.m.
Art & craft time: 12:35 p.m. to 12:45 p.m.
Action Kids and physical play: 12:45 p.m. to 1 p.m.
Home time: 1 p.m.
The time spent at each activity will vary on a daily basis. This is a general outline of the daily routine.
Opening Hours
9:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday to Friday – we operate in conjunction with the National School opening hours 38 weeks per year and hold Halloween, Easter and summer camps to provide additional activities for the children and accommodate working parents.
Our Fees
Our pre-school has signed up to the Governments ECCE scheme and we provide free spaces for children who are eligible for the scheme.
Our fee scale for all other children is as follows:
C6 daily per child when a parent is in receipt of benefit.
C11 daily per child when one parent is working. (If booked in advance C10)
C13 daily when both parents are working. (If booked in advance C12)
Please note: Halloween, Easter and summer camps are not covered under the free places scheme so during these camps the above fees are charged to all children in accordance with the criteria listed above.
