Dowra or An Damhshraith in gaelige, meaning "The Shrine of the Ox" is a picturesque village in the northwest of Ireland. Located on the border of Counties Cavan and Leitrim, it is the first village on the river Shannon and marks the uppermost navigable point of the river. The source of the river is located 10 miles to the north of the village in the Cuilcagh mountain range of West Cavan. The bridge over the River Shannon in the village demarcates the border between the 2 counties.
